Background of div great in IE but not MF?
So I have a centering code for my divs and when I try to give the main container (which I call outer) a background color IE displays it right but Mozilla stops about 300px from the top. Why and how do I fix it?

Mozilla/Firefox is closer to being CSS 2.1 compliant than IE is so it is displaying it the way you have it coded. IE ALWAYS gets it wrong. Your outer div's height depends on its contents and if you have your head div above it, then you have a 400px height there. Would be nice to see how you laid out the actual code.
No matter what, depend on Firefox to show you true parsing of your page. Go to the w3c.org's validators and check your CSS/HTML code for errors.
Bet you don't have a proper document type and that puts browsers in Quirks Mode.
