1) Moving can be a pain but isn't impossible. Use half the water as just water in buckets to preserve int he move, the other half for moving the rock and livestock and to be discarded once you move as they will release lots of ammonia and some even release toxins in the move. Keep fish and coral separate in the move. It will be like doing a 50% water change. Acclimation to the newly moved and setup tank will help easy stress from the transfer and give you time to make sure the heater and everything is still working correctly.

2) Water flow allows for more oxygen in the water. It helps increase the amount of water coming in contact with the Live Rock and is super important. About 20 times the volume of the tank is a successful turnover rate in my experience, less and the fish just don't do well.

3)I'm not sure what sand you have. Some can impact the level of silicates and other elements and can cause algae problems. Do you know what the sand is made of?

4) No. A sump is an open container under the tank, basically another aquarium, that can have all the filter components added to it. I use mine as refugiums and to house the skimmer.

5) No, especially not at first, but adding one on in 6 months to a year will really help. They are invaluable for fish only tanks, and a great help on reef tanks with fish in them. They are often recommended for reef tanks because coral like high water quality, but on some coral they can actually strip too much from the water (why the wait time is better). In a reef with fish, they are very valuable as the fish produce a lot of waste and the skimmer helps reduce that waste. Fish are more forgiving on slightly dirty water, but produce more waste, making skimmers more important part of the filter in my opinion. You want live rock by the way, any other method can be a nitrate nightmare.

6) Get a few good books. For beginners who need to know the basics, "The New Marine Aquarium" is great. For all experience levels, "Ultimate Marine Aquariums" is terrific to give ideas on other tanks and how different successful hobbyist set up and manage their tanks. It covers a ton of methods and gives great tips and advice. I love this book.
