What makes a Bulldog a great pet?
Please don't answer emotionally... I'd like to hear really informed answers from people who have firsthand experience with this breed.
Because they are the best dogs ever. Besides their health problems (which you either get a low maintenance or high maintenance one - that came straight from the vet) they are the easiest dogs. I have an english bulldog and I love him to death. He eats, sleeps, and loves us to pieces. They don't need alot of exercise and are ususally best indoors. I walk mine 2 blocks and then he comes home and sleeps. They will always think that they are lap dogs so when he gets bigger (mines 8 months and at 55 lbs) he is still gonna flop down on you like he weighs nothing. You do have to clean their wrinkles but its really not that big of a deal. They love being around people and other dogs and when we are not in the same room as him he will come looking for us, or if I doing stuff he follows me everywhere I go in the house....bathroom, kitchen, etc. And they are SO funny. He is so silly I just laugh. I wouldn't say they are the best watch dogs though. I have read in dog books that they would probably jsut lick a robber to death. Who knows though dogs are loyal and if someone is trying to hurt you I know mine would try to protect me. They might look scary but they are lovers. He does bark when he hears things but then will look to make sure we are around before he goes to investigate or sit on my lap while he is barking at whatever is outside. But they do snore loud and fart and it really stinks so just make sure you can handle that. Best money ever spent and I would be devastated if anything ever happened to him.
