head lead or pinch collar?
i finally got a dog
i got a 9 month old German Shepherd
my question is should i use head lead or pinch collar to correct him
i have used pinch collars on my past dogs
but was wondering if i could opinions from users
i know how to properly use prong collars
i had one for my akita and it did wonders
but for some reason i HATE them and they are alot more humane the chock collars according to my vet.
but at the same time i dont like the feel of a head lead its just soo awkward
i have only had the dog for a week
i got him from a rescue and before me he was never on a leash soo he pulls like freight train
i do know how to use a pinch collar
my Akita and i both went through a lot of training
I know that most people are going to disagree with me, but I think pinch collars are a wonderful and training tool, if used correctly
I don't like the name "pinch collar" because although they really Look barbaric and like something from the dark ages, they don't actually "punch" or hurt the dog.
In fact, there was a study done in Germany some years back done on using pinch and choke dollars. The results were as follows:
100 dogs were in the study. 50 used choke and 50 used prong.
The dogs were studied for their entire lives. As dogs died, autopsies were performed.
Of the 50 which had chokes, 48 had injuries to the neck, trachea, or back. 2 of those were determined to be genetic. The other 46 were caused by trauma.

When used properly, the pinch collar can make even the most energetic and Stubborn Dog become well mannered and easy to handle. My own dog wears a pinch collar when we go for our evening walk and she is an absolute angel with it on, compared to the other types of collars that I had tried.
